Campaign to encourage travellers to travel by train to and from Manchester Airport
First TransPennine Express is a train operating company based in Manchester that serves the North West, North East and Edinburgh. During the early days of the franchise, the new rolling stock hadn’t yet reached the track and old trains were still in service. They needed to promote what was special about the network – their connectivity to and from Manchester Airport. Make travelling by train an obvious choice.
An advertising campaign and distinctive look & feel was created. We used a graphic device adopted by many airlines to illustrate the network which linked visually to air travel. A bespoke typeface was created for the campaign and we used pink as an eye-catching background colour (a signature colour of the First Group identity).
The campaign aired in regional newspapers, billboards, railway stations and the airport and was nominated for a major rail industry award.
